Oli Sue & Chris' Pop-Up Wedding

"Elope now. Party later." These were the last words that Arlene of The Perfect Grey Photography shared with us about Oli Sue & Chris' Pop-Up Wedding. A Pop-Up Wedding is essentially the new term for elopement. Originally used for Pop-Up Restaurants or Pop-Up Events, it refers to an event wherein you don't know where it's going to happen--oftentimes in an underground and kind of hipster venue and either with just a secret guest list or announced on the day of the event. In Oli Sue & Chris' case, they only had FOUR guests, including their photographers.

Arlene of The Perfect Grey Photographer further shares, "Pulling off a wedding this small may be difficult for our culture, but it was downright simple, and just about them. They didn't have a lot of people to please, because the only happiness that mattered on that day was theirs - which is what really matters."

"Oli Sue & Chris had what you call an elopement wedding or pop-up wedding which is described by getting married without the cost and hassle of a traditional wedding. It wasn't about the guests (since they only had 4), or the dress, or expensive venue ... but about them.

The wedding was just planned in about 2 months, and although they wanted to save on money for more important things in their married life, they did decide to get a beautiful location, for pretty memories of their special day at the Santa Barbara Courthouse, California.

The ceremony was done in the picturesque garden outside and signing was done at the Hall of Records. The whole process took just about 30 minutes. These two are more of a ComicCon couple, so into pop culture - that they got the ring that rules them all - The Lord of the Rings for a wedding band. Hints of a Doctor Who fan (called a Whovian) can be seen on the bride's tattoo and wedding car plate number. And the groom's only accessory (wallet) showed a statement from Pulp Fiction.

Oli Sue was such a no-fuss bride that she ordered her invitations (just for the few people in her wedding), boho inspired short dress,  florist, and makeup artist online. Most of her decision making was based on reviews. Two things she specifically wanted were pretty flowers and pretty pictures. So she went for a wildflower bouquet by Ella & Louie which showcased the various blooms in Santa Barbara that spring. The reception venue was at a Danish restaurant called The Andersen, walking-distance from the courthouse. They made a reservations for 6 people, walked in right after the ceremony and had a very intimate sit down lunch.

They didn't have a lot of people to please, because the only happiness that mattered on that day was theirs - which is what really matters. They'd probably be catching up and celebrating anyway with friends & other family members over beer in more ordinary everyday lives. Elope now. Party later." -- The Perfect Grey Photography
