Gibb & Joel's Arabian Themed Wedding

"For brides planning their big day, being different has its pros and cons. What's important is that they won't have any regrets. When they do something rebellious, they have to make sure that it's something that they really want for themselves and not just to impress other people. It must be within their personality and style. Gibb is just a perfect example, her wedding is what she is...she is by heart, rebellious."

Today's wedding is such a treat! Not only because of the rebellious, vibrant wedding but also because we are actually changing things up a bit by having the perspective of the photographer as opposed to the bride's. Is there anything more thrilling, more exciting than a conceptualized Arabian wedding, the first-ever wedding to be done at the Penthouse of the Zuellig Building in Makati?!? The venue and theme alone made my jaw drop. But there's even more than that! Loving all the colors, the chillness of it all, and the beautiful creative bride! Let's get to it shall we? Before I start belly dancing here. Haha!

Rebellious Brides: What are the things about this wedding that made it memorable for you, as their photographer?

Michelle: Joel and Gibb's wedding is very memorable for me because when we had our first meeting, she said that she personally chose me out of the hundreds of photographers out there, no one recommended me to her, she just browsed my portfolio and liked my style. I love it when brides appreciate your art.

I didn't know at first that she is a DJ but I noticed she's very articulate. And so when we discussed her wedding, I knew then that she is 100% rebellious--from her chosen venue, to her ideas, dos and dont's and the theme. She wanted everything captured as it was happening. No cheesy and heavy posing, which explains the lack of portraits in favor of candid shots. She is my most relaxed bride! Everything was laid back from preparation to the set-up of the venue. Despite being rebellious though, the photos showed that she didn't forget the essence of why she is being married, she is in love and she wanted to enjoy and share it with the people closest to their hearts.

RB: What made your couple "rebellious" and what's your advice for bride-to-bes when planning their big day?

First, getting married in the penthouse of the Zuellig building for both ceremony and reception was quite different. Gibb and Joel's wedding was actually the first wedding to be held there!

Second, during preparation the bride was ultra chill. Not very many brides are like that :)

Third, Gibb's chosen gown was not white and not the typical design. It was simple but it really accentuated her gorgeous body.

Fourth, All the guests really got into the spirit of the theme and were dressed to the nines!

Speaking of guests, nothing can be more unconventional than guests relaxing while having shisha, with the city view at night.

My advice is this: Be rebellious for yourselves and not just to impress other people.

Congratulations Gibb and Joel! And may your marriage be filled with color, excitement, happiness, surprises, and good vibes as your wedding! :)
